Seek After Virtue & Loveliness- Find Strength
I was born in Phoenix, Arizona in 1972. After graduating Magna cum laude from the Art Institute’s International – Phoenix in 1997 with a degree in computer animation I focused my creative skills on freelance work in a variety of media, visual merchandising for Macy’s department stores, theatrical design, and raising a family. I have written my own stories and poetry since I was a child. I am deeply inspired by the courage and tenacity of the human spirit displayed by my special needs sister and the special needs individuals I have worked with for years.
I most recently earned a Bachelor’s degree in creative writing and English with an emphasis in nonfiction writing from Southern New Hampshire University where I graduated Summa cum laude. My current projects include works in both the fiction and non-fiction genres. My husband, Mathew, and I live just outside of Phoenix, Arizona.
The creative process is exhilarating!
-trial –error – overcoming – success.
I love finding new ways of communicating my creative thoughts to others. I am a deep thinker and that comes out in my writing and paintings. I also have a whimsical side that is fun to share in my scenery, photography, drawings, sewing, and so many other ways. I love to travel, to see and experience new things. This feeds my adventurous side. Whether my traveling is done in real life, in books, movies, or an enlightening conversation I always learn something. This gives me a rich library of images, philosophies, and ideas from which to draw.
Computer animation and Creating Writing are exciting but there are tons other interesting things to work (play) with. (Home Depot is way too much fun!) Two of my favorite creative people are Leonardo Da Vinci and Claude Monet. I say 'creative people' because there was more to them than just painting. To follow in their footsteps I also like to be involved in different things such as painting, drawing, sewing, photography, sculpture, animation, and whatever I can learn about and try.
My mother taught me to expertly sew my own clothes and I have also learned to do alterations. I taught myself how to paint by applying the idea that I would just "draw with paint". I watch design shows, etc., and watch what the designers, artists, and craftsmen do and figure out ways to do something similar.
There is so much that makes our world interesting and beautiful. I choose to focus on the good, create beauty, and spread light.
We all feel that we live ordinary lives. The truth is that oftentimes there are extraordinary acts of selflessness and heroism in the lives of people around us. My hope is that through my books, both fiction and nonfiction, you will see how colorful life truly is, and feel inspired to be the hero or heroine in your own tale.
When we understand that we can act in heroic ways to make the world around us better it is empowering! I hope to connect with my readers to learn more about them and their seemingly ordinary lives that are genuinely inspiring.
I hope that you will connect with me on Instagram where we can share inspirational stories, quotes, encouragement, appreciation for life and our amazing earth so that we can lift and strengthen one another.
